Vendsyssel Festival was founded by a group of organists and people in the tourist sector of Western Vendsyssel. They found that it would be a good idea to coordinate all PR for all the concerts that were already being held in this part of the country. Within a few years all of Vendsyssel joined the arrangement, and the festival has grown to be Scandinavia’s largest joint arrangement of classical music.
Every year about 50 – 60 concerts are given at more than 40 different venues in the region. Of these 10 – 12 concerts are arranged by “Styrelsen”, the elected committee of the festival. The remaining concerts are organized by various organists, church councils and local people.
The committee of the festival coordinate all concerts and are in charge of brochures, posters, concert programme tickets, as well as promotion and advertising for the festival. They are also in charge of bookings and season tickets etc. for all concerts.
The highest authority of the festival is the Festival Council, which consists of the elected committee, all organizers of festival concerts over the last three years, the auditors of the festival, a representative of Vendsyssel Festival Friends, and a representative from each of the fund-giving local authorities.
The Committee of the Festival is elected by the Festival Council.
